The Philippines is also a relatively inexpensive retirement destination where you can make your retirement dollar really stretch. There are many here that are surviving very comfortably on around $1500 per month. If you have more income, then obviously you can enjoy an even more luxurious lifestyle that the Philippines can offer. Compared to back home in the U.S., the cost of living in the Philippines is so much cheaper. You will save heaps on all of the basics including accommodations, food, utilities and transportation. Some imported goods can be a little more expensive, but if you are prepared to look for local substitutes then you will save even more.
How many of us could afford to have our own housemaid/cook and a driver back home? Can you imagine hiring a live in housemaid that gets up early each morning to prepare your food and clean the house, plus do all the laundry? And that's six days a week! The cost of a such a housemaid is less around 5000 Pesos a month. Not to mention you could get a full time driver for the same price. In dollars, that is just $83 a month. How many can you afford?
The Philippines has all the modern amenities you'd expect. There are plenty of Restaurants serving International Cuisine, Nite Clubs, Disco's, Theaters and Cinemas with all the latest shows and films and many other entertainment spots. Some of the best golf courses I have ever played on are here and are relatively inexpensive. Example - one course I play most frequently because it is close to our Condo in Taguig, is the well maintained and managed Philippine Navy Golf Course next to Fort Bonifacio. For 2,000 Pesos ($41.66) they charge a foreigner, I can play 18 holes, pay for an experienced caddy, have an Umbrella Girl that will follow you and shade you from the sun over the entire course and still have money left over for 5-8 beers and some food at the Club House. What a Country!!!!!
Metro Manila has more huge and modern Shopping Malls then any city in the U.S. Even all the Fast Food restaurants like McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy's, KFC and of course Pizza Hut and Shakey's all have home delivery service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Something unheard of in the U.S. Then of course there are the beaches like the ones in Laguna, Cavite, or the white sand beaches on the island of Boracay and many beaches and resorts on Cebu, where you can just lay back in a hammock and sip your favorite beverage under the shade of a coconut tree as you watch the sun set over the sea.
If you are single, then perhaps one of the most attractive (pun intended) aspects to the Philippines is the Filipina women. Highly renowned for their beauty and femininity. The Philippines is truly a paradise for a single man. I know, because I found my one and only here.
So, come on over and give it a try. I think you'll enjoy it so much that you'll end up staying here like me.
